My son Taibion and I decided one mid afternoon back in August that we would climb to the top of Dodd Summit.
I have no idea why it has taken us so long to put the blog and video together for this one. These things just get away from us sometimes.
It was an interesting hike with changing weather conditions, amazing views all round and that great sense of achievement when we reached the top. I am sure we have been up other routes just as challenging, but this one felt particularly satisfying.
The normal route was closed, so we had to follow the signs for the alternative route. This made the route back down in the dark interesting, it’s a shame I ran out of battery to record it. Another part I wish I had caught on camera was Taibion hiding under a tree so he didn’t get wet when a band of rain quickly descended on us. He did ask if we could head back down when we saw the rain coming, but we were both very pleased that we waited for it to pass. The views and sunlight shining through afterwards was amazing.
All video taken on the hike was recorded using my iPhone 7. Photos you will see during the main video were also taken on the iPhone 7, with a few Taibion and myself took at the end using a Nikon D3400 (Taibion) and a Nikon D750 (me).
I hope you enjoy the video.
