A few weeks later after my last post, I headed back to Crummock Water and Buttermere chasing some better conditions. Once again the weather forecast was looking promising and I was feeling optimistic for a fantastic sunrise shoot once again.
So, off went the early alarm clock and I was off to my first destination Crummock Water. All going to plan this might be my only destination, however this was heavily dependant on the conditions. As you can guess from the title of this blog I did not stay in one place.
The weather started off good, not great, but good enough. Original forecast had some high level cloud which I thought would look great with some colour when it caught the first light of the day. Neither the high cloud or the colourful sky made an appearance. I did get a band of lower level cloud moving behind the fells which helped add some interest in the sky. It didn’t stick around long, just long enough for me to get a couple of images in the bag.

Have you ever heard the saying “always check behind you”? A very useful piece of advice for any photographer and one that came in useful that morning. Wind had picked up a bit a Crummock Water ruining the reflections on the water. But looking towards Buttermere the weather was starting to pick up and it was time to move.
I quickly headed over to Buttermere and the sky might have been lacking interest, but the reflections more than made up for it. The water was so calm it made the reflections almost mirror like. Some of the best reflections I have seen for quite some time. It was gorgeous.
I had the benefit of fantastic golden light shining through the mountains while the sun was quite low. I had to move quickly though to get the shots I wanted before the sunlight got too harsh.
All in all I am very happy with the images I managed to capture. Well worth the early alarm clock.
